One of the most important steps in taking care of your fur is to have your fur professionally cleaned, conditioned, and stored every year when the season is over. It is essential to the life of the fur that airborne particles such as dust, dirt, perfume, food odors, and even makeup, that collect on the hairs of the fur, be removed. The day-to-day accumulation of dust and pollutants can draw the natural oils out of the pelts causing the fur to quickly dry out. If this happens, the pelts become tender and brittle which can cause rips and tears. The cleaning and reconditioning process removes the dirt and odor and restores the oils and sheen leaving the garment nice and fresh, and luxurious.
You can prolong the life and beauty of your fur by storing it during the spring and summer months in a temperature, humidity and light controlled professional cold storage vault. There is no set time for when furs should be stored. However, as a rule, when the temperature is warm enough outside not to wear a coat then the coat should be stored for the season. Conversely, when the temperature is cold enough outside to justify wearing a coat, then it is time to call your garment from storage to wear for the season.
J.S. Furs uses a specialized furs and leather specialist to carefully and safely clean and recondition your furs and leather garments. Our trained staff will: Inspect your garment for rips, stains and missing closures; Carefully cover buttons to prevent chipping; and Remove stains from lining, if possible.
We pledge to do our best to return every fur, leather, and suede garment as close as possible to its original condition. However, we cannot perform miracles. Some stains and spots cannot be removed or covered up. So, careful pre-inspection upon acceptance of all garments will help make this policy work and is the key to a satisfied customer.
